Risk Assessment

This project studies how people understand, evaluate, and manage risk. Climate adaptation requires weighing multiple risks simultaneously, including the risks posed by climate change, the risks associated with proposed climate solutions, and the risks of inaction.

Prior work on the risks of human interventions into nature has largely employed public surveys asking the general public to assess risks in abstract terms. This project advances risk assessment using research methods and theoretical frameworks that ground risk assessment in real-world contexts. This approach makes novel contributions to the advancement of knowledge on climate adaptation strategies and environmental management.
