Community Resilience
Local governments are on the front lines of the climate crisis, experiencing the impacts of climate change while being tasked with developing effective, place-based mitigation and adaptation strategies. Coastal communities are particularly vulnerable to climate impacts such as flooding, sea level rise, and ocean acidification.
Climate Action Plans have emerged as a critical mechanism for local governments to consolidate a focused plan for climate action. Identifying where these action plans have been developed, how they have been structured, and where there may be overlaps/gaps in local climate planning are all important pieces of information for local governments and communities, particularly those underserved or underrepresented in what we know about climate adaptation and mitigation.
